Plain-language version. We collect what we need to do the work, we don't sell anything, and we tell you who else touches your data.
This site (county.land, including subdomains like leon.county.land) is operated by Our Landmen LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company doing business as County.Land. References to "we," "us," or "County.Land" mean Our Landmen LLC.
When you submit a form on this site — the contact form, a "Request scope" or "Request Foundation" button, the abstract-page CTA, or any similar intake — we receive the information you typed: typically your name, email address, the county or abstract you're scoping, and any free-text notes. We use it to reply, scope the work, and (if it leads to an engagement) deliver it.
Like every website, our hosting layer logs request metadata: IP address, user-agent string, requested URL, referrer, and timestamp. These logs are retained on a rolling basis (typically 30–90 days) for security, debugging, and abuse prevention. We do not run third-party analytics, advertising pixels, or cross-site trackers on this site as of the effective date above. If we add analytics later, this section will be updated and you'll see it disclosed before it goes live.
County and abstract pages render interactive maps using OpenStreetMap and CARTO tile services, and load fonts from Google Fonts. When your browser loads tiles or fonts, those services receive your IP address and request information directly from your browser — we don't proxy or relay it. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
We use a small set of vendors to operate the site and service inbound requests. None of them receive data we don't need them to have:
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or marketing networks.
We do not set tracking cookies. The site may set short-lived technical cookies via Firebase Hosting for caching and load-balancing; these don't identify you and don't follow you across sites.
County.Land publishes information drawn from public records — primarily Texas General Land Office (GLO) survey abstracts and Texas Railroad Commission (RRC) well records. Names of historical grantees on abstract pages (e.g. an 1850s patent recipient) come from the GLO patent file, which is public. If you believe information about you (or a deceased relative) is being displayed inaccurately on a public-records-derived page, email privacy@county.land and we will review it. We will not remove accurate public-records information solely because it is unflattering, but we will correct errors and remove information that should not be published.
This site is intended for businesses and adult professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.
We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect data in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (encryption on Firebase storage). No system is perfectly secure; if you believe your data has been compromised, contact us immediately.
The site is operated from the United States and our hosting infrastructure is in the United States. If you access the site from outside the US, you are transferring information to the US by doing so.
We may update this policy as the business evolves. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
